For the last week or so, we’ve been tackling a few home projects to get ready for Baby Bassett. Rhonda is in her sixth month and while there is a lot of time left to go, October seems to be closing in faster and faster. In hopes of not getting stressed out in the last month or so, we’re hoping to get a lot done in the next few weeks. Tomorrow we’re heading out to IKEA to get some new living room furniture and then when we get back, I’ll be putting that stuff together. This part is NEVER fun and the directions are usually in Swedish and full of rather odd pictures that you need to decipher much like the hieroglyphics of Egypt…. let’s just say that IKEA is not known for their artistic storytelling. Also, even though my heritage traces back to Sweden, it doesn’t help me out AT ALL. I might as well be a Wookie.
After that’s done, I’ve decided to turn our rather large hall closet into a media closet with lots of wall shelves for DVD’s and such. I’m a bit of a movie geek and over the last few years I’ve gathered quite the collection (which is currently in the baby’s room). So this will give us a lot of extra space and keep it somewhat out of the way… it should be pretty cool if I do say so myself. Maybe there will be pictures of all the awesomeness at some point. Once the baby room is cleaned out (this will take a while… trust me), we’ll start painting and moving furniture in. In between all of that will be much grumbling, cut fingers and mysterious pieces left over after furniture is put together. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in life, it’s that this stuff never goes as planned. Time to break out the old carpentry gear, see you on the other side!
