I claim this land for…

Well, here it is… my first journal on the new joebassett.com. It’s almost like sailing out into the new world, landing on the moon or realizing that there is an MTV2. So what can you hope to expect from these journals? Well, the first thing would be that they will be somewhat regular. I’d love to promise that they will be daily but then that would make me a liar… again. I’m thinking weekly or so but probably more when I’m out on the road and weird stuff is happening.

I can’t say that these journals will be profound, life changing essays on theology or the creamy filling in twinkies. I can say that they will be about pretty much everything… sometimes funny, sometimes… not so much. I’m a pretty random person so this will most likely follow in my random footsteps. I’ll write some about what I’m listening to, reading and watching (go watch alias now!). I’ll go on rants about the joys and sorrows of an independent musician living in a world ruled by the iron clad fist of CCM. It’ll be like “Crossfire” but without the dude yelling at you from the tv… or maybe “Oprah” because I say “you go girl” to everybody… even if I don’t know them. Either way, it will be interesting.

From time to time I will probably post new lyrics here, I figure this is as good a place as any. I’ve been writing a lot lately and doing a lot of reading on pretty much everything. So whenever I have something new that I don’t think is worthless… I’ll put it here for you to read. Hopefully in the next few months I’ll start putting up some songwriting demos (following the purchase of some new equipment).

So there you go, I hope you keep reading and that you let me know what you think over on the message board. The next topic will be an essay on the spiritual meaning hidden inside the Fox networks “The Swan”. Ok, maybe not… but you should check back just in case.

I’ll leave you with the wise words once spoken by Nigel Tufnel of Spinal Tap… “It goes to 11”.

Grace and peace
