Maybe I’ll get my own HGTV show!

For the last week or so, we’ve been tackling a few home projects to get ready for Baby Bassett. Rhonda is in her sixth month and while there is a lot of time left to go, October seems to be closing in faster and faster. In hopes of not getting stressed out in the last month or so, we’re hoping to get a lot done in the next few weeks. Tomorrow we’re heading out to IKEA to get some new living room furniture and then when we get back, I’ll be putting that stuff together. This part is NEVER fun and the directions are usually in Swedish and full of rather odd pictures that you need to decipher much like the hieroglyphics of Egypt…. let’s just say that IKEA is not known for their artistic storytelling. Also, even though my heritage traces back to Sweden, it doesn’t help me out AT ALL. I might as well be a Wookie.

After that’s done, I’ve decided to turn our rather large hall closet into a media closet with lots of wall shelves for DVD’s and such. I’m a bit of a movie geek and over the last few years I’ve gathered quite the collection (which is currently in the baby’s room). So this will give us a lot of extra space and keep it somewhat out of the way… it should be pretty cool if I do say so myself. Maybe there will be pictures of all the awesomeness at some point. Once the baby room is cleaned out (this will take a while… trust me), we’ll start painting and moving furniture in. In between all of that will be much grumbling, cut fingers and mysterious pieces left over after furniture is put together. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in life, it’s that this stuff never goes as planned. Time to break out the old carpentry gear, see you on the other side!

Howdy hey, I’ve been meaning to write a journal or two but I was not able to access my site for a while. All is well now though so I’ll get to writing some stuff right away. The last week or so I’ve been helping Rhonda get some stuff organized in her classroom and then we’ve been busy registering for baby gear. Man, Baby Bassett needs a LOT of stuff! It’s a bit overwhelming when there’s five billon brands for one product, but it’s fun at the same time. It’s yet one more thing that makes this all seem very real, we can’t wait for October! On a side note, thank you Consumer Reports, what would we do without you!

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that Nothing hurts like the truth is now available on eMusic, Rhapsody and Napster. It’s going to be on iTunes as well but that takes a little longer. Very exciting! So feel free to check it out and spread the word!

Lastly, I’m going to be playing a show here in town on July 4th… I’ll post some more info as it gets closer. Rock on!

Release Day!

cd boxes

My foyer is filled with boxes fresh off the Fed Ex truck and that can mean only one thing… it’s release day! So now my table is covered in bubble lined envelopes and print outs of addresses as Rhonda and I stuff and label to get them ready to send out tomorrow morning. I’m VERY happy with the way the package turned out and can’t wait for you all to see it. Thanks again for all of your support, talk to you soon!

While I’m waiting for the cd’s to get here, I thought I’d post a small clip of Jeremy Casella and I in concert. It’s only 30 seconds or so but it’s more than enough to see that Casella has better hair than I do. Enjoy!

Hey all, just a few quick updates this morning…

1. Everything took a little longer than I thought it would at the printers so it pushed everything back a bit. They shipped them to me a couple of days ago so hopefully I’ll have them in the next week or so… and then as soon as they’re in my hands I’ll drop them in the mail for all of you that ordered one.

2. Look for the record to be up on iTunes in the next month or so as well as eMusic and Rhapsody.

3. I posted the lyrics up on the site so check them out whenver you want

4. You can now listen to some of the songs on Last.fm as well as MySpace and Virb (which I really like now)… so check those out if you haven’t already. And feel free to spread the word!

5. Be sure to check out Jeremy Casella’s (producer of my record) new cd… it’s AMAZING and easily the best work he’s done yet. I really think you’ll love it!

6. I’m working this week on demos for the EP that Casella and I will be recording later this year… this is the first time I’ve gone from one project right into another and it’s really exciting. I dig these songs a lot and I’m looking forward to working on somethiing really stripped down and acoustic. It’s still pretty early in the process but I’ll keep you up to date whenever there’s more news about it!

I think that’s it for now, thanks again for all of your support… it means a lot and it’s not taken for granted.

Talk to you all soon!
